Course Syllabus
- TITLE OF COURSE: - BA1003 - Spanish for Business
- COURSE DESCRIPTION: Three hours-lecture. This course is designed to provide an authentic Spanish language and culture training program. The course is for the beginning level student with no previous Spanish language experience. It is also a good reinforcement course for an intermediate Spanish student. The course will include a comprehensive vocabulary study, focusing on easily mastered core expressions and brief dialogues. Students will practice various Spanish communication terms to enable them to utilize their Spanish in the workplace. For each unit of
credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and
two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.
- PROGRAM AND/OR DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT: Prepare students to obtain a job in mid-management or marketing position, possessing the skills to make them successful employees and employers.

- Textbook will be selected when course is offered.

- COURSE OUTCOMES:
- Examine the basic principles of Spanish
- Identify, pronounce, and correctly utilize verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and pronouns with respect to gender of words.
- Identify, pronounce and correctly utilize introductions, greetings, farewells, calendars, measures of time, names, and expressions of courtesy.
- Identify proper sentence structure and vocabulary in written communication
- Examine typical forms of business communication
- Utilize proper oral communication when traveling, telling time, writing sentences, navigating in airports, making reservations, discussing with officials, exchanging currency, dining, and purchasing.
- Identifying the requirements for renting in a foreign country
- Identifying the transportation of merchandise
- Examine the functions of the Human Resource Office
